INDUSTRIALS ANALYST JAY VAN SCIVER
Jay Van Sciver is the Industrials and Materials Sector Head, Partner, and a member of the Executive Committee at Hedgeye Risk Management. The Industrials and Materials team delivers differentiated insights into cyclical, secular, and structural dynamics across often misunderstood niche industries. In 2020, Jay was awarded Hedgeye's inaugural Call of the Year (COTY) award for his work on FedEx and the air cargo industry.
Prior to joining Hedgeye, Jay began his investment career on the Buy Side at Brown Brothers Harriman, where he covered cyclical industries, generated strong alpha, and was promoted to Head of Industrials coverage. He later joined LaBranche LLC as a Managing Director, where he led an upstairs proprietary trading desk and ultimately oversaw the firm's market-making algorithmic trading program, requiring significant risk management and quantitative strategy oversight.
Jay subsequently became a partner at Bishop & Carroll Capital Partners, a long/short fund seeded by LaBranche, where he oversaw investments in cyclical industries and further refined his cross-disciplinary investment approach.
Jay earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Yale University, where he was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellowship for his research. While at Brown Brothers Harriman, he completed additional coursework in business, accounting, and data analytics at New York University. Jay is a CFA Charterholder and continues to bring analytical rigor and discipline to his work at Hedgeye.
